Each year our pastor, Bishop Dr. B.S.E. Dyer, seeks the face of the Lord for a theme for the Annual General National Convocation. This year’s theme, “The Kingdom of God” , is another divinely inspired one. We sat with the Man of God and asked the following questions:
What is the Kingdom of God?
The Kingdom of God is that which God himself rules over. It is an unlimited dominion. In God’s Kingdom you will find his sons and His servants, such as cherubims and angels. The physical place is indescribable in human language; there is no human explanation of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. That is why it is referred to in the Bible as “the unsearchable riches of Christ”, “the mystery” (Eph. 3:8-9) and “more than we can think” (Eph. 3:20). In essence, the Kingdom of God is beyond human imagination.
What is the difference between the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven?
There is a vast difference between the two Kingdoms, which is difficult to explain. However, the Kingdom of Heaven will be ruled by the kings of heaven, who will be the millions or billions of sons of God, as the Bible declares “Jesus Christ… hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father…” (Rev. 1:6). These beings are terrestrial beings. The Kingdom of God will be made of those who will share immortality with God (1 John 3:1-3). They have the power to travel/traverse between the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven. The Kingdom of God will be made up of persons who “have been baptized into Jesus Christ [and] have put on Christ” (Gal. 3:27) The Kingdom of Heaven, on the other hand, will be made up of believers who will be saved by their righteousness and faith in God, such as those from the righteous Able to the righteous Zechariah; It will be inhabited by those believers who have survived the great tribulation and the white throne judgement.
Is the Kingdom of God a physical place?
The Kingdom of God is both a spiritual and physical place. It is also both a place and a realm of immortality. The Kingdom of God is a mystery that exceeds human imagination and human understanding
Who will inherit the Kingdom of God?
The Kingdom of God will be inhabited by God and his children/family. The family of God are those who have been baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins. The inhabitants of the Kingdom of Heaven are those whose sins have been forgiven. On the other hand, the Kingdom of God will be inherited by those who will not just be the bride of Christ, but the sons of God which will be God’s body (Corn. 12:27). This is all wrapped up in the mysteries of God.
Does God choose the people He wants in his Kingdom? Yes, God chooses who He wants in His Kingdom. He said in St. John 15:16-17, “you have not chosen me, but I have chosen you…” Some might argue that this makes it appear that God is partial, but there is no partiality with God; partiality belongs to man. God is not like man; God is perfect in all his ways (Deut. 32:4;/).
Why is it important to Get into the Kingdom of God?
There are several reasons why it is important to get into the Kingdom of God. Some of these are: (1) when you die, you will not be in torment in hades/hell awaiting your final judgement (Luke 16:23); (2) You will save yourself from going through the great tribulation and the white throne judgement (Rev. 6-18; Matt. 24); and (3) you will save yourself from being “cast into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matt. 25:41). It is therefore important to ensure that you are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, filled with the Holy Ghost and living a Godly life; it is important to “make your calling and election sure” (2 Peter 1:10).
